Organised by Blue Manta Green Team member Lauren, staff, friends and family took part in a Corporate Beach Clean through East Grampian Coastal Partnership at Blackdog Beach, near Balmedie.
On a superb sunny summers morning over 80kg of waste was collected from the beach and dunes, much of it plastic blown in by the wind and tide. As plastic waste is such a current issue, Blue Manta were eager to help in the fight against it.
Importantly the scheme raises awareness to the public of the amount of plastic now washing up on Scottish beaches, and the youngsters in particular helping out had a fun day, helped with the clean, and went away with a new attitude to plastic waste.
The day culminated in an excellent BBQ with Lauren’s Dad in charge.
Note – The beach clean was organised through East Grampian Coastal Partnership who provided all the equipment, and assisted with the disposal of the collected litter, and plastic waste.
